Mission Outreach
Oak Pointe Church PC (USA) and the Presbyterian Villas share a mutual covenant to live out the love, grace, compassion, and nurture of each person as a child of God through personal ministries of pastoral care, spiritual development, and holistic health education.
In addition to providing pastoral care to residents, we offer “Sing and Share” twice a month and share in a partnership that provides supplemental food to the residents.
Oak Pointe Church has a heart for those unhoused. We support Bradenton's Turning Points with donations on a regular basis of clothing, shoes, blankets, and other needed items.
We see the need frequently for people in our community in need of the "necessities." Food, toiletries, personal care and comfort items are among the most requested. We collect small size items from our congregation and friends, then fill bags with those items. Some of the bags we keep here at the church for when people stop by in need; the rest we take to the Turning Points for them to give out as they see fit. Those people in our community that do not have a place to call home welcome a Blessing Bag with items they can use to make their day a little brighter.
Some suggested items that we collect are:
Combs, deodorant, shampoo, hand soap, sanitary pads, tooth brushes and tooth paste, snack packs of crackers, cookies, fruit, socks, band aids, hair ties, and any other small sized items that would fit into ziploc type bags.
Once a month we gather to assemble the bags. It's a time for mission, caring, and community spirit. We have fun, too!
