Jason Coy Turner
Director of Music
Originally from Birmingham, AL, it has been said that Jason “never meets a stranger.” He brings with his musical talents a thirst to develop and deliver a successful and meaningful music program for Oak Pointe Church. Although still small by most standards, the choir has grown under Jason’s leadership. In addition, Jason has been instrumental in building a library of music suitable for our liturgy and choir. He has served as Organist/Choirmaster of several churches in Birmingham.
Jason has always been pulled to the field of education, and was the Director of the Independent Presbyterian Church Day School in Birmingham for 17 years. He was also instrumental in establishing the HERO Scholarship program and Endowment Fund benefiting children of families with limited resources. Jason helped raise more than $1 million in donations and was recipient of the HERO Award (providing Hope, Excellence, Reliability, and Opportunity for children). Jason has a Bachelor of Science, Early and Elementary Education from University of Alabama at Birmingham.
With a home in downtown Sarasota, Jason’s full-time career is being a Realtor with Michael Saunders and Company. In his spare time, Jason loves travel, giving back to the community, and spending time with his two four-legged children, a Golden Doodle and Schnauzer.
